THE PROTEST FILER’S GUIDE

Preface

           The Protest Filers's Guide is the product of Givens and Associates’ many years of experience in the practice of Customs law.  It also draws from the experience and thoughts of many Customs personnel, customs brokers, and importers.  We intend that this Guide shed light on the subject of Protest preparation, a task which is vital to survival as an importer or Customs broker, to both of whom it is directed.  Throughout the Protest preparation process, possiblities abound for unwittingly committing irreversible error.  And, while the penalties imposed for many of those possible errors are Draconian (and, in the main, merciless, as they are legally beyond the reach of a court's equity jurisdiction), there is little guidance publicly available that is not incomplete, misleading, lacking in requisite detail, or outright wrong.
