JAMES G. HURST

ASSOCIATE

James G. Hurst Mr. Hurst’s practice focuses on providing legal counsel to importers and exporters navigating the maze of international trade regulations.

His practice primarily involves defending against Customs penalties, advising on methods for reducing Customs liability, and providing proactive opinions with regards to Customs law and compliance. His specialties include Foreign Trade Zones, Coastwise Trade regulation, anti-dumping, countervailing duties, export licensing, bonded warehouses, customs brokerage, and export controls.

Mr. Hurst also advises on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Anti-Bribery Act compliance, agent investigations, and defense.

Prior to joining Givens & Johnston, PLLC, James served importers and exporters as a licensed customs broker. In addition, James has experience drafting patent and trademark applications as an attorney.

James has dealt with a variety of merchandise including biomedical samples, clothing, oilfield equipment, honey, and various chemicals.
